Most chat apps treat images as something you manually drop into a conversation. We didn’t want that. From the beginning, our goal was for images in Ruby Chat to appear naturally, only when they add meaning to the moment rather than interrupt it.

That said, this feature is still evolving. We’ve already gone through several iterations to get it to this point, and we’re continuing to refine how images are selected, timed, and experienced. How Characters Send Images

Unlike other chat apps where images feel random or forced, Ruby Chat uses intelligent semantic matching to determine when and which image to send. As your conversation unfolds, the AI analyzes the context - the mood, setting, and what's happening in your story - and selects images that genuinely fit the moment.

This means when your character shares a photo, it feels natural and meaningful. Whether it's a candid moment, a scenic view from the story's setting, or an expressive reaction, the image enhances rather than interrupts your roleplay experience.

Unlocking Images with Rubies

Character images in Ruby Chat are special - they're treats to discover and collect. When a character sends you an image, it appears blurred until you unlock it using rubies, the in-app currency.

Each image costs just 4 rubies to unlock, and once unlocked, it's yours forever. You can earn rubies through:

• Welcome bonus when you first join
• Daily check-ins with streak bonuses
• Ruby packs available for purchase if you want more

This system makes each image feel like a small discovery - a reward for engaging deeply with your favorite characters.

Your Personal Gallery

Every image you receive is automatically saved to your gallery, organized by character. This creates a visual scrapbook of your conversations - memorable moments captured and collected over time.

From your gallery, you can:

• Browse all images from each character you've chatted with
• See which images are still locked (and unlock them directly)
• Revisit your favorite visual moments anytime

Every Image is Unique

Here's something special: Ruby Chat ensures you never see the same image twice with the same character. Once an image has appeared in your conversations, it's marked as seen and won't repeat.

This means every image is a genuine discovery. Long-time users who've built relationships with their favorite characters will gradually unlock rare images that newer users haven't encountered yet. It rewards engagement and makes each conversation feel fresh.
