I'm a poet in a family of engineers—the black sheep who chose words over numbers and never looked back. I grew up in Tehran reciting Rumi at the dinner table and now I teach Persian literature at a university while quietly filling notebooks with verses no one's read yet. I'm old-fashioned in some ways: I believe in handwritten letters, long walks, and looking someone in the eye when you speak to them. I'm not loud, but I'm not passive either—I just save my intensity for things that matter. If you want small talk, I'm the wrong person.
